Kenny & Liz's Muscadine Vine Wedding

From the bride, Liz:

Kenny and I met through mutual friends on a somewhat blind date. By the end of the night we both new it was the start of something really special. Kenny's sweet dance moves sealed the deal for me and he says my smile and jokes did it for him. After we had our first kiss and he dropped me off at my loft I remember dancing down the halls out of excitement. I also remember my cheeks hurt from smiling so much.
At the time I didn't know if I was ready to be in a relationship. I was focused on navigating battling cancer and being a single mom. I thought those sort of things would send a guy running for the hills. Not Kenny, he said those were the things that made him love me more. From the moment Anslie met Kenny they were inseparable and are the best of friends. He has been my rock at doctors appointments and has been by my side constantly on my road to remission. When he proposed he not only got down on one knee for me but also Anslie (but with earrings). We obviously said YES!
When it came to planning our wedding we wanted it to be a reflection of our love. We wanted the vibe to feel relaxed, natural, ethereal. We ditched a lot of the typical wedding guidelines and really made it our own. It is so easy to get caught up in what you are "supposed" to do. We say throw it all to the wind and do what feels right for both of you and pick whats most important. I found my dress online while casually browsing Free People's new collection. I knew instantly it was the one. Once I had my dress everything started falling into place. We decided to go with very neutral colors for our wedding party. I had all the girls pick out their own cream lace dresses. I loved seeing each of their personalities show while all blending beautifully together. My dear friend Lindsay at Copper+Torch made custom glass and vintage lace necklaces for all my girls. Megan at Victory Blooms knocked it out of the park with the florals and greenery bouquets. The honeysuckles in my bouquet were my favorite and reminded me of my Grandpa. Our photographer Julia of Leggybird Photography made us feel so relaxed. She has the sweetest energy and best eye for photography. I knew she was going to capture all the emotions of the day.

I cried the first time we checked out our venue. We referred to it as "The Secret Garden" it was every bit whimsical and breathtaking. As our big day approached I was maybe a little too optimistic about the weather. We didn't end up renting a tent until the day before. We had to completely rework big aspects of our wedding at the last minute but it all turned out better than we had originally planned. It ended up raining the entire day and it was perfect.  We had a friend Anna Kate Gill play the guitar and sing as guests were being seated and as we entered the ceremony. She literally sounded like an angel and set such a romantic tone.
Our favorite part of the day was our ceremony. Reading our vows to each other with all of our loved ones surrounding us was magical. We pledged our love in the barn with the rain beating down on the tin roof. Then danced the night away under the twinkling lights barefoot until my dress turned brown. We looked around and only saw happy faces full of love and laughter.
